I think this is what's behind much of the resistance to paying women fairly - the fear by many men that their male-dominated jobs will end up being paid less. For some, just the prospect of narrowing the pay relativities between "women's work" and "men's work" is a threat to their masculinity.

They also make a lot more than librarians.

Accountants make a hell of a lot more than school teachers, nurses and social workers. They are all much more useful and productive than accountants.
