The two white dude creators could have done what Rick Riordan did and handed the mic or shared their stage to more Asian animators and writers. I’ve seen nothing on that but happy to be proven wrong

tbh, they've been one of the few tv animation showrunners that I can think of to actively collaborate with animators working overseas and getting into the weeds of the process, rather than the usual treatment of "a black box where storyboards go in and animation goes out"

Avatar was definitely a big deal for South Korean animation because before that most SK-based studios generally didn't get the kind of work that allowed them to really show off, and I can only hope that trend continues

I can see some of that work in the new Witcher film. I think some of those studios are also doing work on anime projects in Japan.

Studio MIR (which was founded by Avatar animation director Jae-Myung Yu) has been really putting in work lately, and apparently they're going to be working on a SK-JP coproduction adaptation of the manhwa Gosu soon

I noticed one of the exec producers for the new show is named Sehaj Sethi, but yeah. What's funny is the comics, and both live-action versions, have had lots of Asian lead creatives, including the new Legend of Korra OGN, written by Kiku Hughes.
