I think that Sylvanas being made into a neutral character or killing her off to "fix" what became of her in BfA/Shadowlands would be an utter waste. Just as killing off Vol'jin was.
Or if we lose Thrall too ESPECIALLY. I love these characters and I'm growing really sick and tired of losing them.

I'd like to have her back, but I know that'd be a mess.
It's very important, at least to me, to keep characters alive for people who enjoy them OR give them a good send off. I don't think Sylvanas or any Horde Leader needs this right now.
But for sure, just look at the history of almost all the main women in Warcraft, it's something that repeats itself.
Sylvanas especially I think loses so much of herself by being made neutral and not back in the Horde.
I would absolutely play with that whole thing. Some will hate her and some will accept her again.
And I think that's more interesting to do then just everyone casting her off.
"Oh, you're neutral now. I guess we just take you as is."
But I think Thrall in a more specific case doesn't need to die remotely anytime soon. His story feels like it still has so much more to tell -- especially since we just got him back.
Still. Sylvanas and him must be quite challenging to handle for the scenarists: they are both popular characters, and everyone has different expectations for them.
I also just think there is a time and place for heroic ends. And right now none of the Horde characters need that story repeated at the moment. Especially Sylvanas and Thrall.
It's a rough time. And I think "healing" is the best way forward with her story. Especially for her fans.
They did my girl so dirty.
As much as I'd love to see her return, idk how I'd like to see it done.
Thrall would be mostly jaded at her. Genn would want her dead. But I think the Forsaken and some Elves would *mostly* accept her.
You're telling me her perfect ending is showing up and then dying defending her homeland? It's not hitting for me.
And this resonates with me on most Horde characters. I'm just tired of the dying.
Even when THEY were the ones who wrote so many of them off in the first sodding place!
Her character has been poisoned. It would take a lot of work and effort to fix what was done to her, if it’s possible at all.
A- Risky for the people who still like her. They could fuck it up.
B- Torture for the people who don’t like her.
She’s a divisive figure. She was the main character when the lore and story was a complete mess.
Even if she finished her work in the Maw (which would be crazy fast) taking people out of Hell doesn’t undo the fact that she sent them to hell, in some cases for YEARS.
And they’re still dead!
Is Sylvanas God in this scenario?
That's the only real Sylvanas involvement with Midnight I'll be satisfied with, really.
Not every "good story" to a "good character" needs to end with a death. And I don't think repeating Sylvanas' death is a good one.
So it's probably likely we'll see her out of the Maw soon with her work done.
And again, to reiterate- even if she got them out after sending them to hell to be tortured for years- she still got them killed. Ruined lives. Destroyed families.
A core part of the Horde is that.
She absolutely should be able to be used properly beyond that.
Unless there's something like a centuries long Timeskip like in Guild Wars, there isn't gonna be any clean way to unfuck that thread.
They absolutely *SHOULD* tell these stories.
I definitely think the risk of using her character and establishing her in a new but similar light (from before this) is the way to go.
However, wow has brought back a lot of my faith with DF/TWW, despite what shortcomings it >
She's a fan-favorite for a reason and should be used, mended, and given a good arc by the current writers.
If they choose to kill a character off it should have a good reason for why. Varian is still the best example of this cause it made way for anduin to develop.
I think Varian and Saurfang are the two best examples of handling deaths so far for both factions.
It would take some major retcons of BfA/SL, or incredible writing that frankly has not been a specialty of Blizzard. There's too much blood on her hands to not address it.
I'd much prefer her finding peace in her unlife & resonating with the Horde than just dying again.
I'm usually a sucker for heroic deaths but it's getting overdone lately for Horde.
This is especially in the Horde and I don't take issue if she wants to do that.
I think Sylvanas can find joy beyond Nathaniel in unlife.
