My tip is simply as follows:

Deck manipulation is going to be your best friend no matter what, and while Jokers are going to be your primary mult dealers, most of your money should be going to Tarot card packs to increase your chances of getting the hand you want off
Oh and also buy rewind.

... as they aren't hard to assemble and the base unlocked jokers work well with them. Flushes don't scale well at the top level but they are a great way for a new player to get their bearings.

2) Find an early joker you can ride for rounds 1, 2 and maybe part of 3, and try to get your econ to $20. It gives you flexibility, gives you free money from interest, and also means money doubling tarots and tag effects can pay off.

3) Don't be afraid to use discards aggressively to sculpt better hands. Excess hands are $$ at the end of your turn, and excess discards are waste. As an example, you should easily be able to sculpt a 300 point hand in round 1 almost every game.

4) In early rounds, you're pursuing mult (or 'flat mult'). As an example, an early flush card is one that gives a flat mult of 3x for every time a diamond activates. A joker that gives 15-20 flat mult reliably is a good joker.

5) By round 6, you care more about xMult (they multiply your mult when they are hit). They're the red numbers. It's almost impossible to get past round 7 without some. But xMult is pretty unimpressive until your flat mult hits.

6) xMult is extremely powerful. Do not underestimate steel and glass cards, which are ways to create xMult from tarot decks.
