It’s all mental shortcuts and hacks. If you learn to be lazy enough in your thinking, you can make the lighting simple enough to bust out of your head.

Interesting. I have a lot of issues with my digital painting. I find it easier to carve with light, but it’s just not there in terms of feeling right. I’m always asking these questions, so I appreciate the response. Love the painterly quality of your work. “Feels” right.

It’s way easier for me. And also, if you fuck up the values, there’s no coming back. Getting the colors right is kind of optional by comparison.
