I was hoping an ex-pilot would weigh in. I can't stop watching the video - and I can't imagine what the crew & passengers thought was happening. There was nothing normal about that landing, so how was it explained to folks. I feel sick. - ThreadSky

the landing was normal from the standpoint it's something the pilots have trained for 100 times. not normal from an air traffic separation standpoint. it shouldn't have happened, but there was no real danger here. had the 737 touched down..different story.

Thanks for the explanation. I actually couldn't tell from the angle whether they touched down, though the difference in the physical sensation of slowing down and the slight tilt one experiences when
landing...

the passengers and cabin crew knew nothing. I imagine the pilots were totally calm but watching that jet for the 10 seconds prior and asking each other.."is he gonna stop?" upon realizing he wasn't, a "go around" call was made. then a "wtf" to the tower.

Please, friend, do not fret this way. Go-arounds and rejected landings are rare but pilots undergo a fair amount of training around them. Sudden weather, unexpected wildlife, debris on runway, ATC instruction. Everything we can see see here looks super normal right until their runway gets crossed!

I'm good, I have a couple of pilots (former Air Force & commercial) in my family but more importantly, I was a witness to the disaster @ Logan Airport 25-30 years ago and it left a memory that shakes me still. I love flying, and I have the utmost respect for the women & men who do the job. Thanks❤️
