I appreciate the sentiment of the article. But, this Management ensemble is per definition a “deal is not done” combo; specifically if they can’t sign their own star player.

We all know the reason for that - it’s miss-management from get go. They held Valdy out of his first year thus delaying him one year of real payday. They took him to arbitration every year they could (except for this year).

I wouldn’t sign with the Jays either after that treatment.

The owner wants to spend, but the combo of Shapiro and Atkins are incapable of making any substantial deal that no other manager could not have done. That is the standard they should be measured by.

As such, they should be fired; after 10 Years they have accomplished zero. Actually, less than zero, when they took over Jays had Vlady, now they won’t even have him in less than a year from now.
