Because everything needs to be cut; we have debt crises. More than half my book club members' spouses are laid off. One going on a year and the other 2 weeks notice with no severance. 8 months severance is a dream. Fed employees are not untouchable. Time to learn to pick out our own produce!
Unless we tax corporations and the billionaires, we won't make progress. I'm willing to admit it may take multiple solutions, some of yours. But look up tax rates prior to 1980 when wages and inequality really started taking off. We need government investment in education and we need taxes to pay.
And please don't suggest to raise corp taxes. We need to attract businesses into the US to create jobs. Tariffs help with this. There is going to be pain to get back on track.

Targeted, insightful review of obejectives, strategies and large projects is a good idea. Utterly unhinged indiscriminate slashing is dangerous and counter productive likely to weaken the defence capabilities.
This seem to be the problem with trump and Elon supporters, you can’t run government like you run private entities. These things works differently.
