@tastinghistory.bsky.social My Husband bought me your book for Xmas and I was able to make this lasagna tonight. It was a HuGE hit. Even with my 9 and 12 yo. They like it better than traditional lasagna! Definitely recommend.
I added some more to make it a full meal. Get maxs book folks.
Even though I've known of the Columbian "Exchange" since I was a kid, it always confounds me that there was a time when Italians have never even heard of a tomato since tomatoes are native to the Americas.
Looked it up and confirmed this is largely true.
Also tomatoes are in the family 𝘚𝘰𝘭𝘢𝘯𝘢𝘤𝘦𝘢𝘦 (Nightshades) along with potatoes and peppers, the same family as some actually poisonous plants like belladonna and mandrake.
And so is tobacco, and someone did grow a tomacco plant IRL in 2003.
