Gotta try to sell to normies as much as possible. Real ones would get it regardless. But if you slap "popular thing you've heard of" on there, maybe a casual person will grab it.
Of the 3 official still in production Dragon Ball manga editions in English by Viz. I have the only one that actually uses Dragon Ball for the entire series (and it's the lowest quality release).
Most English readers unfortunately have a "Dragon Ball" manga and "Dragon Ball Z" manga.
Even my version which treats it all as Dragon Ball on the cover still has a DB and DBZ split inside it cause it's just using the bad decades old localisation that split it.
What a strange thing to do for the series.
I know the "Z" is extremely iconic now, but I remember at some point thinking the entire thing is so much cooler without the name change. You think about how much had changed in the same series so much more when there isn't an arbitrary brand split.
It makes GT looking like a return to form on the surface more tragic. I haven't checked out that new shoe (nor Sand Land for that matter), but it never felt like the series ever had a chance to return to the adventure formula of the beginning.

The irrational side is fuming rn.

That damn Z did so much damage and we're still not recovering.
