They got what they wanted out of the tariff stuff which was to stir up the base with the lie that other counties pay the tariffs. Now they can just not do it much except as targeted quid pro quo, & lie and say they’re doing it en mass to satiate the base’s rabid xenophobia. Kind of like “the wall”.

The truth / what they actually wind up doing doesn’t matter. It’s all about the narrative that they manufacture. And when you can manufacture any narrative and push that to the base, you can never lose. You’ll always be undefeated in that world.
