Have you read Long Live Evil by Sarah Rees Brennan? I feel like you'd like it. My favorites were Someone You Can Build a Nest In by John Wiswell, The Dead Cat Tail Assassins by P. Djèlí Clark, and I'm Afraid You've Got Dragons by Peter S. Beagle.
