Trimmed the flower chawan and an extra one that I made did not survive 😠learned how to hand build so I made this cool wooden texture cup. Tried my best to carve a similar texture on the bottom
I should have used my extra wood texture clay as the handle too but overall very happy 😊
Here’s everything that survived the first firing and glazing 😌 glazing is such a weird thing but we’ll see how things turn out ðŸ˜
Week 1, class 3
Finished trimming a plate I started. Also threw a matcha bowl and the base of the lidded vessel
Got the garlic plates back, next time I will make the ridges deeper since they weren’t very sharp but I love them!
Got a few pieces back from the previous class and bisque. Trimmed and applied underglaze since glazing is next week.
Tried a new glaze with a cup I threw the first week and added the handle
Had to go in an extra day since I didn’t get to finish everything the day before. I threw the lid for my pot the day before and went in to trim that. Then I started to apply underglaze
Went for a ginkgo leaf design on the matcha bowl and a fish pond theme for the lidded pot
Got everything back from bisque and now time for glazing
Did manage to get everything done although it was a lot of work.
Waxed the ginkgo leaves so no glaze would get on it and tried a multi layer glaze for the thumb cup and also the lidded pot.
Now we wait 2 weeks!
Got two pieces back and still waiting for the others. Threw 3 things and tried my best to make a yakult shaped piece.
Slowly learning how to use a tool to help shape and also learning how to isolate pull (like pulling from the middle vs from the bottom)
Pretty frustrating week as I continue to try and make a Yakult bottle. All 3 pieces that I threw last week end up as practice pieces but I did get one of my bowls back. I threw 3 times and nothing ended up what I wanted lol
Started with hand building and made 3 garlic plates. This is also my first time with white clay! I did throw a Yakult-ish thing but forgot to take a photo as I almost broke it as I was taking it off the slab 😔 got the rest of my pieces back tho and am very happy!!
Still practicing making a yakult bottle. Threw 3 things but one didn’t make it. Been trying to practice getting the straight walls, midway dip, and slanted opening on the big ones. Proportions haven’t been right for the big ones but threw a smol one and look!! 🥹 progress 💪
