Having Dak, Lamb, Parsons (assuming resigning) are HUGE pluses. Competent QB and some of the best players at key positions. They’ve won 12 games each of the last 3 seasons. Decent roster.
The Saints will be a sneaky good opening. FO will be patient while the cap clears up and some draft picks are made. Meanwhile, the HC can establish their culture.
Having ownership that won't meddle is so often left out of these discussions. Some of that is offset by Loomis, but having an owner who will stay out of the way and spend money is extremely attractive.
Peaking at Spotrac dead cap - it does look like 2026 might be ok if the big contract players continue to contribute. Still a commitment to Derek Carr until 2027 unless you take the ~$30 mil dead cap, which wouldn’t be crippling. He also isn’t the worst option for a QB!
You neglected to factor being in the same division as the Eagles and Commanders into your "ETC." for the Cowboys. That should knock it down to 1. Dak should also be knocked down 1 for being injury prone as well as NEEDING to be restructured to get cap space. Total of 7 at best
Would you mind elaborating on your Caleb Williams take "statistically he struggled so much. Not alot of precedent for a QB with that record coming back"
Which things give you pause and do you feel like he might not improve?
He took a lot of sacks. That’s really his only bad stat. Some of that’s on him, for sure. But the OC situation and a brutally bad OL- which is priority 1A for them in this offseason, and they do have the assets to fix it- gives me a ton of optimism that that number can come down quite a bit.
QBs who have a high pressure to sack rate in college tend to have a similar one in the NFL - one of the more predictable college ➡️ NFL stats. Better line will help, but I anticipate Caleb being a higher sack guy. Not a career reaper - see Burrow, Joe.
He probably always will be, yeah. But it’s not going to be 65+ sacks every year. If he can get it to 35-ish that’s pretty reasonable. With better protection plus a better scheme that has pressure plans/hots, and more experience in said scheme- I think that’s a realistic goal.
I would wager 40-45 (would rank 7-10) is a more realistic goal for 2025. The entire interior iOL has to be reworked so one of the best case scenarios for 2025 includes chemistry building period for the line and Caleb.
That would be a big improvement, I’d take that for a new HC/OC/iOL. And probably new LT, too, to be honest. Brax coming off surgery likely won’t be their guy anymore. He’ll become a very good swing tackle option.
Washington did well due to their ownership change. Some of these teams don't stand a chance with their inept ownership who treat owning a team like playing with real life action figures.
THANK YOU! Caleb is the real deal, he put up great numbers in spite of the instability he was given, cool under pressure, bounce back after bad plays. He had no O-line, no coaching, no OC and the defense gave up. Caleb is the reason and coach would want to go to Chicago, he is a stud!
Admittedly, as a Bears fan I’m biased. But Bryce was EASILY in the convo for worst QB in the league last year. Nice final 3 games in ‘24, but as of W15 he’s still probably in that same convo.
Caleb is already top 20. He was statistically better this year than CJ Stroud! No one is panicking in HOU…
I haven’t looked at stats, but it felt like a big difference between deep sideline routes and deep middle. My gut tells me he was being coached to err on the side of caution to the sideline- so routes aren’t undercut and taken for pick 6s- and to always miss long. A too-deep sideline miss is a punt.
Flus’ coaching definitely negatively affected QB play. That whole 2 (TD) 0 (INT) 0 (sacks I think) isn’t conducive to developing young QBs. They need space for mistakes so they can learn to maximize their skill set. Minimizing mistakes is for established players.
Everything I’ve heard about Glenn as a leader is extremely positive. Mina was talking him up on her pod today. I think he has the potential to be a great HC with the right coordinator hires. It still comes down to Johnson and his progeny staying far away from the team though.
Agree on both accounts especially about getting the right coordinators so Glenn can focus on getting the team right. Don’t want him just being a defensive guy.
I think leadership is what they need most so it makes a lot of sense. The team has talent, just needs it pulling in the same direction. Obviously Rodgers needs to go.
The Jets have a few good players, but they are over rated by their fans. They are nearing the end of their rookie deal and will have to get paid.
No QB - not easy to draft one. And Woody meddles - not a good situation.
Woody will have to over pay and give long guaranteed contracts
I hear ya but they do have a lot of good players and if they can hit on a QB they could make noise. I think Aaron Glenn will get this team tough and playing to their potential.
Woody had meddled more and more. And his comments are frightening. His kid is giving him advice based on Madden Ratings and what he reads on twitter. Woodys said thinking is over rated and yelled at the backup QB.
He reminds me of an insane Roman Emperor.
Except us fans suffer while he gets mad.
Frankly think the Ect category should be split up. Bad ownership is such a major factor in coaching success. Cap issues too, especially when a team is in the mess the Saints are in.

MeauxFeaux has pics of someone.
Gayle is way too friendly with the football FO.
Woman up!
…5 felt generous.
It feels like the worst opening by a mile, especially since they still believe they can win.
Patriots' gig was primo.
Which things give you pause and do you feel like he might not improve?
No: Proceed with the interview
Yes: Only continue if you have no other offers, or need a job to be released from prison
Bryce was under 60%, 2877 yards, 11 TD : 10 INT, 253 rush, 73 & 34 pass rating & QBR.
Caleb 3541, 62.5%, 20:6 TD/INT, 489 rush, 88 & 46 ratings. Awesome clutch play, too.
Those are very different years!

But Woody scares the hell out of me.
And please let AR go away!

good game against the Lions this weekend too
