If 50 shades of grey could get published AND have 3 movies then anything is possible. I have read marginally better fanfics than 50 shades. Damn, there are some amazing fanfics out there, pls never stop creating them.

Friend got a good but normal tech job partially thanks to fanart. Let it slip as a hobby during the interview, was asked for a link to the gallery she programmed herself. It impressed as it speaks of skill, motivation to learn, and having a creative outlet (=healthy life/work balance).

lucky because her boss isn't an idiot. Others are, and are stuck in the 1960s. However, let this be a lesson: don't sell your passion short. If a job interviewer doesn't see it, you can always tell them about the gears that turn behind the image/story.

One of my favorite examples of this is @cherrifire.art. She used to make fanart for some creators, worked with a few, and now you can see her work in so many thumbnails (and it's always a joy!)
