It's a shame that with these beautiful designs, the Maaori motifs and storytelling woven into the major works in the area, that Hamilton City Council then decided to call the suburb 'Peacocke', after the family who had farmed that land for 150ish years... What the fuck
Currently the fight is to get people to use Te Ara Pekapeka and not call it Peacockes Bridge.
Agree that it is a stunning structure. IIRC the lights are designed to not distract pekapeka on night time flights.
Some more prominent signage approaching or on the bridge for vehicles, and for pedestrians would help with that, I think. Also changing the suburb name from Peacocke would be a start bc why even give it that name to begin with
I guess that area has been known as Peacocke for a long time. That said, Council didn't have to stick with it.
