I think the best place it could stop post CRL would be Maungawhau, which I think would make a good long distance station until we build up more regional capacity. The old West line platforms will otherwise only be lightly used post-CRL, and regional trains can layover on the sidings at Morningside

Te Waihorotiu would be impossible - electric only and too busy with two main lines going through there, no terminating platforms. And while Waitemata will retain two terminus platforms (initially for Pukekohe Express services), it's also electric only - the diesel vent system was decom'd and removed
