one thing i really think people on here gotta take to heart is, spend your time thinking about things proportional to your ability to affect change in those things

it does not help you at all to think about catastrophically bad but distant things over which you have no control. Process them, but focus your time on what you can affect!
I can make my workplace a better, safer place. I can make my library a better, safer place. I can build relationships with people who share a space with me.

The only way I know of it STOP worrying about stuff outside my control is to START thinking about stuff inside my control. That expenditure of energy in a positive direction is what helps
