I know I often complain about random #Linux stuff, but I actually love that OS. I personally would love more people to try it, but truth is, like anything, Linux isn't perfect, and having a frustrating experience may turn people off even retrying it in a future.

wine and proton will take care of 99% of the software and the 1% is mostly stuff specifically made to not run on linux
While I use the xfce version myself, if youre a complete newbie, I'd go with the Cinnamon one, that is their standard.
Is it feasible to have both OS's installed in the machine at first, at a sort of transition period? Or would it bloat it too much? I remember having that at some point in my desktop PC a while ago.
For them, Linux will be new and scary. It doesnt have that comfort layer on top.
We can apply it in the other direction as well, Linux users who havent touched Windows since 2006 will accept most of the OS quirks, just working around them.
I like Linux. I used to use it, but then I got lazy and didn't have a computer for years. I need to get caught up on tech again. I became a mom and dipped out. I used to use firefox primarily.
