Having always lived in the US, I’ve lost count of how much I’ve heard someone say, “That [server/cashier/etc] wasn’t very friendly.” I usually ask how happy they’d be doing that job, with everyone expecting them to love it. Nothing inspires joy like being yelled at about expired coupons, after all.

I honestly loved Finnish customer service, which is that there isn't any. The ideal cashier interaction in Finland is that neither of us have to so much as say a word or even look each other in the face.
Lockdown was the most I had ever enjoyed a job, stocking in an empty store.
