Trump is cozying up to an aggressor who is trying to take part of Ukraine, and wants to take advantage of the situation to force Ukraine to hand over part of its natural resources without any security guarantees. I can't blame Zelensky for speaking a little forcefully.

As a child who grew up at the tail end of The Cold War, seeing a “President” simping for Putin is pretty disgraceful. To his followers, he probably came off as powerful. He just looked like a crude, thugish mobster to me. Money can buy a Presidency but not wit or class. Pathetic.

I guess if this bit is true, maybe he’s not entirely “respectful.” But respect can be lost for good reasons, and regardless, he’s still *more respectful* than his counterparts were, all things considered, and far more diplomatic and calm, especially given how high the stakes are.

This is a miss-understanding of the phase. It’s was an expression of disbelief (like saying ‘Jesus fucking Christ’) not an insult at any particular person.

I get that the people spreading this mean well but it unfortunately feeds into trumps narrative of disrespect.
