The United States needs to become a parliamentary democracy with a President that is predominantly ceremonial. Most of the executive power should rest with a Prime Minister and cabinet made up of elected representatives in the House. Add in multi-party proportional representation for Congress too.

I think if the Democrats regain control of Congress and the White House, they should use the expanded executive authority to immediately and completely reverse everything that Trump did. After that, then negotiations with the Republicans on new legislation curbing executive power can begin.

Here in Australia felons cannot run for office {thank goodness} and we have compulsory voting. Also we vote on a Saturday and there is usually a bar-b-que sausage being offered by a charity group. We call it the democracy sausage.

Our Constitution already has a clause that curtails the power of the president: 3 branches ~ Legislative, Executive, and Judicial. If only our elected reps would stand by the Constitution, as they swore an oath to do, instead of cowering at every executive order as if it's a royal command.

Why not? Certain republicans travelled to Hungary to learn how to dismantle democratic processes. It’s a real shame the Supreme Court decided that presidents can do anything in office without legal repercussions though. That makes no sense that someone with so much power can’t be held accountable.
