I’ve got one of those right now but he isn’t neutered yet. I’ve got to trap him and take him in but it’s freaking me out because I’m worried he’ll be terrified.

Lots of TNR experience here. They bounce back. Cover the trap when you catch him. Leave air flow. Everyone settles down in the car ride, goes under for the procedure, wakes up. Vet gives fluids, can food in trap. Ferals have to stay confined in trap overnight. Keep it covered.
Confined in the trap overnight after the procedure or before?
We’re not sure whether he’s feral or stray. I read about the difference and he seems stray. I’ve been feeding him for about a month. He really want to live here. Love him already. :)
He tugs at my heartstrings. He knows to meow really loudly when he wants food so I run out and put it down for him—I can’t leave it out all the time or we get invaded by raccoons. My two indoor cats smell him through the screen. So cute. I think he wants friends.
They can't have any food for at least 10 (?) hours prior to surgery. Can you handle him? If trapping, you trap the night before. If you can confine him, be sure to withhold food, and be able to safely get him in the carrier. Either trap or confinement overnight after. Street cats can be tame.
I won’t be able to handle him. I’m a huge baby. I can’t even give a pill to my indoor cats. I was planning on just transporting him in the trap to the vet.
Cover up the trap and ask your vet to give you some gabapentin to put in the stinky fish you use as bait. Spend a week feeding him in the trap and on the last day, add the drug, if they're really hungry, they'll gulp it down before they notice...works for us
Wait to trap him until you have appointment set up...he'll be okay covered for a day, especially if he's sleepy. Cats are suspicious and you may want train him to eat there. Wire it open for that week or 5 days. Gonna tag dear @deemeow.bsky.social, an expert, see also https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aSpdujzaEa0&t=53s
I'm not a vet and this isn't medical advice...😺. It's a generally safe drug but consult a vet for sure, especially if you think he's sick or hurt. If you have to keep him overnight before appointment, put cardboard underneath trap and store him in a safe place. Thank you for helping him! 🐾💙🐾
I think I’m kind of on my own. I put my name down to get him into the place that neuters ferals and strays. I think he’s stray because he’s pretty engaging. We will keep him but he needs to be snipped and vaxxed.
