I think BG3's uber-success didn't do DATV any favors. Veilguard is still a FANTASTIC game, but I guess in this market even that isn't good enough. I don't think it's fair to compare the two games (even though I do lol) but I think indie/smaller games can teach us more about appreciating (cont)
everything that each game does on its own. Especially hearing about the troubles that DATV went through in its development, I think that context helps me appreciate what I DO love about this game even more. I am always grateful for a fun game :)
What is so frustrating is that EA should have seen BG3 and Larian (a company whose CEO wants to make games that are fun rather than only caring if they're as profitable as possible) and considered trying to maximise fun instead of profits. But ofc they didn't. Because EA's CEO is a fucking idiot.
Exactly!!! I know these CEOs and boards don't care because they only give a shit about money, but video games are also art and they deserve the respect of any creative pursuit and to be treated as something more than just a way to make money. Sigh.
