I stayed near the uni of london campus in Bloomsbury. Had a really easy time getting around the city and felt within walking distance to a tonnnnnnn of places.
I spent a few months near Leicester Square (Covent Garden) which was pretty convenient to all the major sights on foot (plus shopping and restaurants) but it’s also close to Charing Cross which is really useful for transportation
somewhere near king’s cross (positive) or euston (derogatory) could be good — they both have options of tube lines to get you into central london, but aren’t SO central that it’s extortionate. north of the river is probs best as south isn’t always well connected (depends where you are)
piccadilly line is pretty useful to be on. king’s cross has the british library, british museum etc but victoria or south ken are closer to the V&A, natural history museums plus attractions like the london eye/buckingham palace. depends on what you want to do — feel free to DM me if i can help!
Not 100% certain I am, but doing some pricing to see. If we do travel there, it would prob be the first half of the year. Maybe as early as March/April
In August I stayed at the Park Plaza in Waterloo directly across the street from the Lambeth North tube station. One stop away from Waterloo station, centrally located (maybe a 10 minute walk to Westminster Bridge), decent food options around. Hotel was great and adorable and even had a pool
You want to look for a Travelodge (preferably) or if you want something a step up (Premier Inn). Both are cheaper options. I second Kings Cross. But also add: Tower Bridge, Spitalfields (both E1). Great for art, food, markets, and are central enough to get to other great locations. Good tube lines.
Last time i visited we did an Airbnb/VRBO type rental in Battersea right on the Thames and took the riverboat from there every morning and it was lovely
I like to stay off of the picadilly line, because it's a straight shot to/from Heathrow and I can transfer anywhere else while exploring but when I'm lugging around a big suitcase, I want as little hassle as possible
So, I was a broke student (still am) when I visited London and there are surprisingly affordable Airbnb options, all over the city as long as you avoid the posh region. 💖 Most places are really well connected by buses and tubes, although I did confuse the different tube lines the first time 😭
depends on where you want to travel/visit, I usually always stay around kensington (shocker) because i visit the v&a and all, but i will be staying around the london eye this time around in a couple of weeks, i also used to stay around king's cross! don't hesitate if you have questions darling btw!
We stayed at a hotel called Thistle Marble Arch. It's nice, on the pricier side, but near the tube and close to other attractions. Either way, take the tube to the Marble Arch station and eat at a pub called the Three Tonnes (if it's still there).
