Interesting chart. Poilievre started attacking our PM back in 2022. This is about the same time Canadians buried their heads and decided they needed a new leader. In comes Poilievre stirring up hate for a great PM.
Not to date myself, but we have shifted so far right in the political discourse in Canada, that someone who would have comfortably fit into the Mulroney PC party, is now the front runner for the leadership of the Libersls.
I see that, and I am a die hard NDP voter for my whole life. I bawled when Layton passed away, this election I may have to federal vote Liberal because when I look at my two daughters and then at all the antichoice legislation the CPC tries to sneak through. I don’t want that for Canada. I don’t
Oh I'm not saying Carney is not a massive preference over the Cons. Just observing how far right we have drifted here in Canada too. If we weren't in a moment of existential threat I suspect progressives would view him much differently. But here we are.
really align with how far our Overton window has been pushed to the right over the past ten or so years, and it’s happening everywhere, but seeing the USA slide so smoothly into fascism with barely any pushback I hope it the wake-up call we need not to follow suit and for the pendulum to start to
swing back in the other direction. I’ll take a few years of Carney and his fiscal conservative policies if he leaves our human rights alone and maybe the NDP can regroup and come back swinging with true labour policies (sorry bout the novel)
Annoying to see that slow steady rise in fortunes for the NDP abruptly end once Singh ended the partnership, throwing away all their leverage yet failing to capitalize on the moment 🫤
I think the most astute book will deal with how publicly held televised debates, press conferences and news services( print media) that were the traditional means to convey the platform of political leaders were delegitimatized as a reliable sources . Social media and sloganeering ruled the day.
It's not that complicated in my opinion. People grew tired of Trudeau, particularity his goofy faux progressive vibes, and they wanted a more serious alternative.
They would have chosen Poilievre if they had too but Carney fits their "daddy" role to a tee.
Speak for yourself. I've never grown tired of PM Trudeau. Nothing goofy or faux about him.
He's a hardworking, loyal, intelligent man who has given his all for 🇨🇦 and put up with far too much hate and abuse thanks to Poilievre's campaign of hate, rage and lies. Carney becoming PM would be so sweet.
Not for me they didn't plus we had a hardworking compassionate PM.
Do you a have any idea what Poilievre's austerity plans to balance the budget will do to us, except the billionaires and millionaires, it won't be fun.
You literally just described Carney's platform. "Spend less. Invest more". That's austerity for us and handouts for corporations.
I'm not voting for either.
Timbit Trump and the Maple
MAGA gang have hitched their wagons to the MAGA movement, Canadians see what is happening in the US and want no part in that populist, misogynist, racist movement.🇨🇦
If you haven't you should talk about the pension grab by our federal politicians and if you have it needs to be done again
What took me 40 years Mr pompus Pierre Poilievre ( he's not the only that can use illiteration) achieved by the age of 31 . What of those 80 more that await
Very interesting to visualize all the different trends over time. At the end, we see the CP, NDP and BQ losing and Liberal gaining those votes. And at the same time, the Liberal are choosing a new leader next week.. Lots of anticipation for Carney and thanks Trump for the 🇨🇦 unity against PP.
Not a surprise to see Liberal Lite (NDP) losing massive ground to a Trudeau free Liberal party. Nothing says strategic vote red like a surge in conservative popularity. Plus the NDP are... Well, what are they even now? Lost, I think... They were Liberal crutches for years, now...
Singh's cynical actions, attempts at populist rhetoric and threats to vote down the government constantly over the last year have soured a lot of NDP voters on HIM, which drags the party down. They'd be wise to have a leadership race of their own.
I am sour on the party and their lack of a coherent left wing vote. They have pulled firmly to the centre and are just tax and spend small L centrists. Canada needs someone other than the Green Party pulling left as hard as the Conservatives pull right.
We need a government that has ideas how the fuck we're all gonna survive the next fifty years and have plans to deal with climate change and mitigation of the disasters it brings, because regardless who is in power, Mother Nature is still pissed as fuck.
The only plan that will work is "replace capitalism" and so far not even the Green Party is proposing that. The time to "constrain capitalism with guard rails" was in 1990-2000. Now the constraints will have to break the capitalist model to be effective.
I say that because the biggest climate change drivers are corporations, the investor class, and anyone over $10m net worth. All capitalist beneficiaries. The average person has already cut their contributions down, and corporations keep offloading their issues onto the individual.

US Media and Post Media: See! We told you tRuDeaU was a dictator!!!
In CPC?? What was that?
And never did tell the truth.

Over his decade in power the material conditions of the average person did not improve or even got worse. That's a failure.

(also tomorrow's Liberal debate is going to be interesting to watch )
They are voting strategically.
Quebecois are generally more politically astute than the rest of the country.

Currently we don't have a viable replacement
