Then the parties should probably stop being shit. Stop blaming the voters for disliking their shitty options. When you go to a restaurant and all the food is terrible, you don't blame the customer
Politics has always been like the Rolling Stones classic. And anyone who thinks that they will find a party that gives them everything they want are deluding themselves.
"You can't always get what you want
But if you try, sometimes
Well, you might find
You get what you need."
It’s up to any losing party to look itself in the mirror. But voters need to do the same. You’re not at a restaurant, and even if you were, the food isn’t equally terrible. Some of it is much, much worse.
Could not agree more - the Ontario election is proof of this. The strategic voting/choose the least worst candidate focus is proof of this. I was engaged, attended candidates debates etc and I was struggling to find a candidate with ideas, focus and action plans. It was largely finger pointing.
I say this and someone has to go off about how I’m a traitor to Canada because “blah blah”. I don’t play team politics. There isn’t always a good option. Politicians work for us—why aren’t be demanding better? Absolutely kills me when people identify with only one party and praise them like a god.
Nah. This is lazy. In a shit restaurant, you get to leave. In politics, you can only pretend to leave…but the reality is that someone else shoves shit food down your throat. The parties are NOT all equally bad. The electorate bears some responsibility (not all). The system is also to blame.
Part of the problem is our lack of proper proportional representation. Maybe 25% of the issue.
75% is that the parties keep putting out shite platforms that are just flavour variations of neoliberal economics and resource extraction. Why vote for people who all serve the same bland pasta?
I'm not blaming her or steve for anything, but I think it's not the right choice to abstain from voting at times like this, especially after seeing how it turned out for the states.
I have never, ever suggested abstaining from voting. I tell people that spoiling their ballot is an option, but I will never advocate for not voting. Stop this.
There is the option in Ontario provincial elections that you can request to abstain from voting if you feel there are no candidates worth your vote. The returning officer is required to record it as such. A bit more upfront than simply spoiling a ballot.
I agree, but what motivation to the parties have to get better when they benefit from lower turnouts, so they only have to target certain demographics to try and win?
Maybe they should want to win. Every time a party Gose for broad appeal with an actual Vision back up with policy they win. Like the fed Liberals in 2015, but that bakes in an expectation of competence which neoliberal politicians are allergic to
You don't know it's shit w/o tryiing it first, & we've tried most of them. But come on, ppl! Rae days were 4 decades ago, This isn't the Prog Con party your dad voted for, & these aren't the Libs of those days. Look at the menu & make a choice; don't just walk outta the joint ! VOTE!
Rae days werent even that bad. They asked for people making over $30,000 (about $57,000 in 2025) to take up to 12 unpaid days off a year to save $1.9 Billion and thousands of public sector workers from being laid off.
But its spoken about like it was some evil of the highest order.

In this case, that means addressing constituents issues through your framework of values! Looking at you, ONDP.
The manager is spitting in all their food and they are leaving 5 star google reviews.
