I genuinely don’t understand how people can call themselves pro-working class and not feel like the attitude of the eastern provinces towards Alberta is anti-working class.

Climate change is important to me, but it would be easier for Canada to go to the moon than change Alberta’s whole economy.

I don't hate the individual workers, of course, but I can't be gracious towards the profession as a whole when it contributes so much to climate destruction. While I wouldn't point my vitriol at the workers, I think the industry itself deserves nothing but.

Is there an assumption here that demanding fossil fuel reductions means being against the workers? Sort of like being pro-Palestinian is anti-Semitic? No one may mean that - but I don't see attacks on the workers themselves just on the industries - is that assumed to be an attack on the workers?

I don't hate the workers, I hate the policies and the leaders that don't listen to expert recommendations by the IPCC, and for not taking climate change seriously.

I will always fight to ween off O&G, and abusive resource extraction. The question is how to have this conversation with O&G workers.

I really dislike the "eastern Canada" label. Because Atlantic Canada is eastern. We've had a drain of our population leaving for AB to make a living for decades. Heck Stan Rogers wrote a song about it! So if you mean ON & QC then say so. Because we've lost many many people working & supporting AB.
