btw if ANY of you and I mean ANY of you haven't watched the Lord of the Rings yet I highly recommend doing it soon. It is maybe one of the most cathartic and important types of stories in times like this

Not to mention the story being composed of three of the greatest films ever made! I watch the Extended Editions at least once a year, sometimes thrice.
Couldn't agree more. Every time I rewatch the movies, every single piece of fantasy that I consume afterwards loses its lustre, little by little, but as certainly as the passage of time.

Do you recommended the standard versions, or the extended?
If you can't stomach a 4 hour movie, the theatrical releases are beautiful
If you crave the extra details and world building, the extended cuts are beautiful
Only thing I can say is I think for Return of the King, extended is the better experience imo
I actually had to sell some friends on LotR because they looked at even the standard run-times and immediately backed away.
Can't imagine trying to convince them years later than more than an hour added each would have been easier. Even I was a bit intimidated.
But I should really watch/read the stories of how 2 high shortstacks team up with an old dude to throw jewelry into nature's furnace at some point.
