I would sooner voice every character myself than shoot myself in the foot this way. Forgetting all the other AI problems for a moment: AI voices still sound *terrible* and would wreck the immersion that's necessary to good horror.

I know voice actors who would voice act for cheap. You can find voice actors or community members will do it for cheap.

I have friends and family who would voice act for free.

There is no way you're seriously saying this. Take a moment to think about it, this person is almost definitely not doing this as a scam in bad faith. It's just voice acting. Mabye they couldn't find voice actors, mabye they're not comfortable asking people to work for free. It's a fuckin indie game

Bad intentions or not, by employing AI voices not only will it sound like shit and assures a kiss of death to your game you're taking away a spot from somebodies portfolio. Even worse if that's money that could be used to support an actual actor.

The last two points are excuses. You can find people: period. Worst case scenario voice act your own characters! Or just don't use any at all!

Also it's not "just voice acting" any AI involvement that replaces talent kills the optics of not just your game, but can cloud your game dev career.

This seems like a good game. This person is using ai voices because they're not good at voice acting. It's an indie game. There is nothing wrong with it. Ai is wrong when you're making slop and getting rich off other people's work. This is not that, get a life people.
