I've spent a lot more time with Joni's music since middle age crept up on me. Maybe I needed some serious experience under my belt to fully appreciate what a wonderful artist she is. Love this record so much ❤️

My favourite too. Later albums have a different jazzy appeal but this is the pinnacle of her songwriting. First 3 tracks in particular are stunning.

It's always so close for me between this, THOSL, and Hejira and they're all sooooo good (and Hissing is still my favourite, though that's probably the first I heard, and the first one always dig deeper into you).

Agreed. Court and Spark I wore out playing in the 70s. Hejira sits in a two way tie as my favorite Joni Mitchell albums.

January ‘74 my family & I were in a book/music shop in London & this was played repeatedly as we browsed. My Dad was so impressed that he bought a copy & I fell in love with it - even if, or because, it portrayed a world of complex adult emotions which teenage me found mysterious & enticing

5albums74 really forced me to take a close listen to Court and Spark (I'm a Blue girl). I always resist the sheer pop perfection of this album. I really listened for a flaw on it and I could not find one. Ended up getting my top spot and I didn't even think I liked it.

I play this regularly every few weeks from beginning to end and the melodies, lyrics and orchestration never ceases to take my breath away. And then to follow it with The Hissing of Summer Lawns is mind-blowing.
