Whole sections of S2 went so far south I began expecting a Arctic penguin to appear on back of James' bike. When my then-wife eventually watched DVDs (she was too young for it when first aired) I told her to skip ahead to end post Leland death.

Season 2 is operatic, going from extreme comedy to extreme horror.

I love how mythic it all is, but there are still a few moments are make my head scratch--and not in a profound way.

Law enforcement allowing the armed mayor to threaten them and then permitting him to go into a sheriff station room alone with a woman he's targeting to kill, before cutting to commercial.
