this format could really work for future games, it just needs some smoothing out to totally click
mainly they need to finally let the homing attack carry you forward, because right now it's just mash A to watch the game continue. making things like that feel less scripted would go a long way
For me the homing attack helps me catch my bearings and take a better look at the environment without worrying about slowing down and getting a worse time.
that's probably a valid reason why they've kept it this way for so long, though i think they could make it feel more interactive without being overwhelming if they design the levels around it, with maybe fewer clusters of enemies in general
Could probably easily be solved by making side paths that’ll get you through that section quicker. Beginners can use the enemy chains to get a better feel for the level, pros can use the side path to get a better time.

controls good, open zone is fun to explore, animation appeal is way higher, and the new powers are rad
boost formula is still too rigid and QTE-ish for me, but fun is fun, and this delivered 👍
