Agreed. I've been here about a week, and I'm already ready to ignore yet another social media platform. People like yourself being here is the only thing keeping me around.
I don't know how any place with character limits can be a venue for genuine conversation. I was trying this place out after Twitter, but I don't think we are biologically or evolutionarily equipped to handle social media as a species.
I fear you are correct. Social media seems to have two modes. Unanimity which leads to harmonious mental stagnation or all out character assassination in response to even mild disagreement. Of course there is a sparsely populated middle ground which may survive.
LawTwitter (now LawSky) actually functioned in that middle ground because (1) some lawyers know how to disagree without being disagreeable & (2) that group of lawyers understands that the first person to SHOUT in an argument has already lost.
So, an environment built for lawyers, not real people.
Yes. Also a lot of people on certain platforms are themselves marginalized and attacked for reasons that have nothing to do with you, but foster a paradigm where they perceive all disagreement as a precusor to attacks or marginalization you'd never do. It's sort of ice skating uphill.

I think it's just that Bluesky is a communication machine and that there is a lot of conflict inherent in that.
