I'm doing a really crap job of learning guitar. I haven't really sat down to bear down on it like I have with figure drawing or video editing. I gotta figure out a way to make consistent practice work for me.

focus on the easiest possible music you like. for a lot of learners, this is Nirvana. Getting to the first positive feedback loop is important, i.e. making sounds you enjoy hearing and thus playing. Also super important: start learning the notes on the fretboard asap! It's easier than it seems
I may hit you up for this, if I survive this Hawks game.
I still have more trouble than I'd like transitioning from string to string, especially toward B and E on the bottom. I think I just need reps, but my fingers feel super clumsy trying sometimes.
I really leaned into theory of guitar playing this year, I really enjoyed James Shipways No Bull Music Theory for Guitarist, for some reason reading along and practicing a chapter a night after work really helped me
dang, now this sounds like an achievable idea. I found the ebook at the San Francisco public library, and there's an audio book too. I'll give this a try. Thank you.
Yeah, I quite like the old version and have maybe a couple days worth between PlayStation & Steam, custom DLC and everything. I learned a lot. The new one, Rocksmith+, is less appealing but finding its stride. Reincorporating RS2014 into my practice would probably be pretty good for me
I think it's harder to make a pleasing drawing than a pleasing sound, which would make guitar practice more appealing than drawing, but there are so many successful decision-making moments even in bad drawings that I think drawing takes the lead for "fun to learn."
Both will be "fun to know" though.
