I realise with hindsight that back in 2016, none of us under the age of 45 were taking any politics at all seriously (that was the time of the Boaty McBoatface vote as well). We have all paid dearly for it.
I don't get the "Faith, Flag and Family" bs. That isn't what this country is about. We are not sincere about our feelings, we are tongue in cheek. People in Brighton were trying to get Jedi categorised as a religion during the last Census as a JOKE.

I once watched the Paul Embery guy a few years or so back with interest. He got piled on hard by his "fanbase" anytime he advocated for unions.
