people are inclined to throw out a “fuck texas” every time they do shit like this & you should not do that for many reasons focused on actual human texans. but if that’s not enough for you, know that TX is the testing ground for whatever the federal GOP will try next. this is a big one & dangerous.

the texas house is slated on Friday to debate HB 229, which would legally define "male" and "female" in state law and state that there are only two sexes, and HB 778, which would require insurance companies to cover "adverse effects" and "reversals" of trans healthcare for detransitioners #txlege

i want to say MT or ID drafted something with a 30 year term as well? if care coverage decisions go down to the practice level, one HCP doing trans medicine would raise practice rates iirc. it’s quite an insidious back door to get people to choose to stop providing.
But I’m also traumatized and angry and will not absolve my neighbors of responsibility for choosing ignorance and cruelty over and over again.
So yes, I will continue to fight. But also, fuck Texas
but we already have the american cass review and DOJ has erased trans crime stats. i have no confidence that 1-2% in reality matters to anyone, much less malpractice insurers talking to HCPs about why their premiums are going up.
Far lower than any elective medical procedures I’ve undergone and have had covered by insurance
