I found it reassuring to hear from other creators facing the same problems and wanting control of their own output… even if hearing it from patreon’s mouth gives it the underlying message of ‘we noticed the instability of platforms, and we want to take advantage with our own unstable platform’

Patreon is still pressured by growth. But at least their clients are their user, so they're more likely to behave.
But in that transaction, the creator is still the "product". (tho i'll admit, I don't see how it can be different in capitalism ???)

Also, 72% of trust for reach is not exactly great.

it is nice to see this stuff articulated of course. but i know that there are Pressures here that will end up preventing patreon from being the one ultimate platform to solve all of these problems

yes the way attention has been hacked and min-maxed is hugely destructive i think. but uhh that's an argument for a distributed independent internet more than it's an argument for patreon
