Upgrade Windows Home to Pro and disable Copilot/Cortana.
If possible, try Ubuntu Linux. Very usable except no MS Office, Adobe or Autodesk apps.
STOP using cloud connected health apps, especially period trackers. Many Fitbit-type devices can be used with Gadgetbridge instead of their native app.
STOP using cloud-dependent IoT and smart home apps. Demand vendors support local-only Home Assistant or OpenHab.

Would love to see an update that also mentioned health apps from which people might want to disconnect themselves, particularly menstrual trackers, whose data might be used against women in lots of hideous ways.
Being concerned about the very real possibility of a gov't survellance state coming with Trump and Musk, I deleted several thousand posts, likes, bookmarks, following and followers before deactivating my X account. And by using a pseudonym handle for all social media.
