How will it be financed? A €180m loan from Goldman Sachs and €80m from La Liga's deal with CVC Capital Partners will go towards the €360m relaunch of the project. Once complete, the land on which the current Mestalla stands, will be sold.

The design lacks the flair and panache of the original project (and some of the other redesigns that never happened!), but the aim is to have it ready for the start of the 2027-28 season, and possibly get a late invite to the 2030 World Cup.

If this finally results in getting the Nou Mestalla project completed, then great.
However, I can't help thinking that 20+ years on from starting the project, VCF will end up with a stadium that will look and feel older than the original design.

And it will be nowhere near as good as Mestalla is now, and the view will be worse, and it will be a lot more expensive to go. In fact, about the only good thing about it, is that it'll be near enough to walk home.
