But when other voters whose #1 issue is poverty, health care or education do not vote for Harris/Walz because they disagree with her on bathrooms or immigration, they are doing the exact same thing as Butler.

Butler argues ‘Well, she’s earned my vote, but not a yard sign, campaign contribution or endorsement.’ It is indistinguishable from: I want her to fail, but I don’t want to be blamed.

Other just make a more clear ‘She didn’t give me everything I want on every issue, so I am not voting’ choice. 4/5

Both choices reduce Democracy to a transactional “What’s in it for me?” which is a default, capitalist approach that always benefits Republicans.
