Remember the unmarked vans in Washington, just pulling in protesters. Think we're about to see that magnified by an order of magnitude. And this time they are planning on putting those protesters in camps or deportation. π« π

Joel Osteen couldn't open his church to the displaced of Hurricane Harvey, but will definitely throw open its doors on this one! Lakewood Detention and Deportation Center. Being a true patriot is being a true Christian.
Maybe do this on 6 as well? I'd add a mass walk-out at a certain time, wear no specific colors or iconography, and if you're feeling feisty, withdraw your $ from banks. There are things that can be done that don't involve gathering in one place and giving them a target.
Decent isn't about crowds anymore, it's about money, who has it, who doesn't, and how it's controlled. To bring down Fascists, we have to disrupt capitalism. That means stop buying shit.
I tried to start a thing where millions call off and make no purchases on Jan 6. You disrupt productivity and sales and no cops maim you or toss you in a van.
It's the safest and easiest protest but it still got no traction.
People are inherently selfish. Itβs really the most proactive plan and you could even organize scheduled buying windows to get necessities.
However, this requires inconvenience and most people donβt want to change their schedules. Theyβll end up doing it AFTER their lives have been disrupted.
It seemed like a good idea to me. People that can't make it to a protest because they have people to care for or physical limitations can participate. It's on a Monday so all it requires is people taking a long weekend in unison.
A lot of essentials could be purchased from small businesses.
We have the power to fight back by just changing our habits and living with less convenience but even organizing a national day of playing hooky is too much.
Glad I get to see the same unclever memes shared endlessly instead of something proactive.
I donβt think not watching the inauguration is going to do anything, but itβs a fun meme.
Even if only 25% of the country followed through, it would cause such a disruption that it would change everything. I intend to make it so no more excess is bought in the next 4 years.
I can't believe that so many people are so ignorant that they thought voting for the guy who promised huge internment camps was a good idea. Reminder - this has NEVER worked out well in all of human history.
