I would add that many consumers are boycotting consumerism, understanding that corporations in America buy the vote of Congress members. Plus, unchecked consumerism = exploitation and is unsustainable.

If not in the midst of a fascist coup, I'd have bought a new car and probably changed some flooring in my home- but Tronald Dump in the White House means 1) I'm saving money because we don't know wtf to expect and 2) I'm saving money simply to not feed our corporate overlords. Don't feed the beast.
