Obama, prior to Trump, oversaw mass deportations & yes, his admin did do family separations (kids in cages). ICE raids under his admin were akin to military raids.

Trump undoubtedly was and remains worse on immigration - he is terrifying. But he was empowered to do what he did because of what the Obama administration had set up. And he will be able to do the horrors he promises because of the tools given to him by the Biden administration.

Policies of dehumanization beget more dehumanization. That’s it, that’s what we see here. And that is what we will continue seeing - not only on immigration, but elsewhere too (like, most emphatically, the ‘foreign policy’ of genocide and regional war).
