I paid $10,000 into Social security this year. I looked at my statement and have paid over $300,000 in Social security. I've also spent a comparable amount on Medicare. These are not entitlements.

SS is our bank and has custodial responsibility to keep our savings and return to us at retirement age with some interest. Government tapping into it is plain stealing.

Social Security has nothing to do with deficits. Social Security is totally paid for by the DEDICATED payroll FICA TAX. Employers/employees each pay 6.2% of wages up to taxable $168,000 max; self-employed pay 12.4%. Socially Security has nothing to do with deficits! Look it up!
More to the point, the pot of social security money does NOT contribute to government debt. In fact, the Treasury borrows from the pot. Congress refuses to increase its funding mechanism and dumps its people so it will fail.
