I was on the fence when it was Trudeau but with Carney, I have no doubts given his finance and economics background. He has also already applied for his security clearance yet Pierre has been avoiding it for the last 3 years. I don’t trust Pierre and I don’t think he has the necessary skillset.

The GG wouldn’t have to do anything—Carney as sitting PM may remain as prime minister as long as he holds the confidence of parliament. And the throne speech would establish that very quickly either way

Not quite true. If a con-leading minority comes back, the GG makes a judgement call as to whether he believes they can govern. If she thinks they have the support of sufficient other parties to hold a majority, she will then hand over the reins.

If the other parties make a deal for majority of support the GG has to give it to them instead of the minority Conservative.

We made this mistake in 2006+ allowing cons to govern with a minority. Hopefully never again

Thank you! First past the post is bs. Also with our population distribution we should do proportional representation. I live in Conservative country, I've never been represented by an MP whose party or personal policies have aligned with mine. There are lots of us like that.

Kiwi here, I've voted with Mixed Member Proportional representation for Govt all but one of my elections & it's bloody wonderful. I no longer have to drink a bucket of sick to vote for who my heart feels for.

Having lived 8x in Vancouver it still amazes me that FPP is still used.

It's useful to those in power & would ultimately make the running of parliament more complicated. However, many European nations seem to run fine with coalition govts. I think coalitions are a good thing. Look at all the social programs the NDP were able to push for. Ethical govt is via consensus.

BC is doing another committee on it next year. We really need to focus on outreach and education this time.

We need to make videos. Landing pages. Pamphlets even.

The BC NDP will be motivated if they know the Greens will cut into their vote share, and you might even get the PCs to agree.
