Serialized would be great; I’m a slow reader, especially when reading things online, and breaking it up into chunks would get me really into it

based on fics I read, up to about 12k in a single long scroll is fine for me on AO3, but usually that's anywhere from 2-10 chapters. depends I guess on how hard you want your breaking points to be between sections

(but lots of AO3 writers also like to do updates regularly with shorter chapters to push them to the top of the section to get more hits)

Yeah I've hewn to 5k words per chapter for the novel I'm working on, but this story averages ~1.2k per scene. Thinking I'll bundle two scenes into each update if I serialize

Gosh I wonder how many words are in these chapters in the book I'm reading right now because they're so short it feels (about 10 screens reading on my phone in libby)

okay so print edition has 528 pages, probably more like 500-510 minus all the non-book stuff, 89 chapters, prologue and epilogue. That's like 6 pages per chapter?? that is SHIT.
