Not a uniform, that’s just a rich guy in the country outfit for the period. It’s a spat-heavy look that was heavily influenced by English hunting clothes and the presidency of Teddy Roosevelt. A good tell here is the brightly colored necktie of the sort popular in the first half of the 20th century.
I get what you're saying, but I see the Austrian coat of arms, which goes back to 1919 (but excluding its time of annexation by AH). This is the point after WWI when Austria was no longer an empire.
Makes sense and probably unfair to ascribe modern sensibilities to art that is unfamiliar. Kinda shows how art can have an organic life of its own when it enters the wild

Anyway, I still think I could learn a lot more construction and boldness from Leyendecker’s style—his use of negative space was amazing.
