It's remarkable how these visions of technological progress always seem to involve immense suffering for the many and vast profits for the few, presented as an immutable law of nature rather than a deliberate choice.

It's fascinating that we keep buying into this theatrics of progress. We nod along as billionaires explain why destroying livelihoods is actually good, actually necessary, actually inevitable. We keep using their platforms even as they openly declare their contempt for their users and their workers.

This ideology of "efficiency" has infected everything. We've turned productivity into a religion, complete with its own rituals (morning routines), priests (productivity gurus), and sacrificial offerings (our own well-being).

Here's the thing. When tech oligarchs tell us they want to create a world where human labor is worth nothing, where algorithms control access to basic necessities, where "citizens will be on their best behavior" (as Larry Ellison put it) - perhaps we should take them at their word.
