as far as I know dotTrace is managed only and won't show JIT or GC or native stacks, but I may be wrong

Awesome. Now it'd be nice if symbol downloads wouldn't take forever. That is something that's happening in VS tho. A wild guess but is it possible that ms symbol servers are based on the same wild outdated AF WCF servers that are powering windows feedback servers?

While I don't know, I would suspect that Microsoft Symbol service is basically APIs over effectively a file share, or whatever the equivalent is in the Azure world.

For me, I spend a lot of time daily waiting for symbols, so I usually pretty prudent on what ones I pick for the apps that use them.

I was using it to get my "time to first rocket ship emoji" benchmark down with Spectre.Console. Got it down from 25ms to 12ms, great info in there.
